Adjust the location of the adapter relative to the router. Sometimes, moving closer to the main router, or changing your position in the room can affect signal strength and wireless speeds.
The configuration of your room and the location of the router being different in every setup, will result in a different spot for each setup. If you are trying to cover a longer distance, the USB adapter may not provide the desired signal strength.
Check for the latest updates and drivers. Some adapters, depending on the OS used, will also have special drivers -- an example would be the A or A when using Windows 8 or 8. Check the wireless security encryption of your router. Security encryption of a wireless network greatly affects the speed of the connection. Make sure your router is configured to use the correct security encryption so that you can maximize the speed your router is capable of.
