If compressed air isn't available, a length of nylon rope can be used to keep the valves from falling into the cylinder during this procedure. Refer to Section 4 and remove the valve cover from the cylinder head.
If you're working on a V6 engine and all of the valve stem seals are being replaced, remove both valve covers see Chapter 2, Part C. Remove the spark plug from the cylinder which has the defective component. If all of the valve stem seals are being replaced, all of the spark plugs should be removed.
Turn the crankshaft until the piston in the affected cylinder is at top dead center on the compression stroke refer to Section 3 for instructions. If you're replacing all of the valve stem seals, begin with cylinder number one and work on the valves for one cylinder at a time.

I miss it. When I first purchased the vehicle, it had really bad vibration, road noise, and what sounds like a clunk when going over bumps. After replacing all 4 tires, and ensuring the rims are true and free of cracks.
I've eliminated most of the vibration and road noise. However, it still has two things I need an opinion on. The first is the clunk I hear when going over bumps. When the tires were replaced, I noticed the front struts appeared to be bad.
The boot was brittle and pushed up and I could see the piston of the strut. So I attribute the 'clunk' to possibly that. The second, is a noticeable vibration when accelerating.
