Gamers grab their favourite Mii and take to the stage with one of nine exciting mini games. Fishing, and Billiards. It sold over 28 million copies in its lifetime, and is the best selling non-console-bundled launch title. Serving as a spooky-space prequel to Dead Space, Dead Space: Extraction takes the 49th spot in this list of the best Nintendo Wii games of all time!
This first-person rail shooter is not for the faint of heart, which is something you might not expect to see in an article about a family console like the Wii. Fighting Necromorphs using a bunch of space colonists; things are about to get real very quickly! As always, the Wii motion controls and the added speaker in the Wiimote make this game a joy to play.
The first person action style makes for pretty jumpy gameplay, though gamers control the camera somewhat through the different levels. Using the Wii Zapper or just holding the Wiimote like a gun, players knock out melee and long range attacks via shaking, twisting, and mashing the fire button.
The space colonists also use Kineses to make objects float. MadWorld is one of the greatest stylised games for any console. Take part in epic boss battles and use the Wiimote and Nunchuk to pull off Power Struggles, taking down insane foes and throwing out moves Mortal Kombat characters would be proud of. Some mini games and boss battles are timed, and certain levels require a specific number of points to enter. Play human darts, impale people on spikes, and kick foes into next week while riding a motorbike.
This game never left my Wii back in and the journey to take our little protagonist from zero to hero was so compelling that I could hardly think about anything else! Players take control of a young boy who finds a magical crown. This crown enables him to charm other members of his kingdom of Alpoko into building… well, the kingdom of Alpoko.
Corobo must explore the world, gathering gold and conquering other neighbouring kingdoms in order to expand his rule. Explore caves, gather followers to slay bosses, and create the ultimate utopia. If I tell you that the mind behind the original final fantasy game played a big part in the creation of The Last Story, does that make you feel more excited? The Last Story follows Zael, a mercenary based on the island of Lazulis.
Instead of picking up work in Lazulis City, the capital of the fortress island, Zael wants to be a knight, fighting for glory instead of cash. He soon gets his wish after shacking up with Calista and ends up in a raging war between humans and the Gorak, fantasy beasts that are out for blood. Stealth and strategy are the keys to success in The Last Story. Great graphics, a stunning score, and a plot that makes Dragonball-Z look like a toddlers exercise book. Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars is the first 2.
The characters move in a 2D fashion like the previous game, but the backgrounds and characters are all 3D rendered and richly textured. It looks amazing and a far cry from the simple backgrounds used back in Street Fighter 2! Players use two characters on a team or one humongous character that barely fits on the screen.
I came to the this game a little later on, downloading it via the Wii U Virtual Console. I played it the traditional way, but original Wii users also have the ability to play it using their favourite custom GameCube controllers. Travel freely forwards, backwards, left, or right while running and flying!
The graphics and gameplay are fantastic, as are the battles in each of the well-crafted levels. Deflecting bullets with swords brings a Star Wars feel to this futuristic game, something that critics loved along with the movie-like storyline and meaty gameplay.
Monster Hunter Tri takes the 43rd spot on this list of the best Nintendo Wii games of all time! Unsurprisingly, this is the third title in the Monster Hunter series. In Monster Hunter Tri, gamers capture or slay huge creatures while protecting different villages and regions. Like any upgrading game from Fable to Spirit of a Tail, the weapons and armour that gamers choose to equip their hunter with decide which stat points are most prominent.
Swords provide more damage than arrows, though ranged attacks can be twinned with poisons and other substances imbued into the arrow heads.
Monster parts are used to upgrade weapons and armour, a mechanic used in the ever-popular Breath of the Wild. Looks like we know where Nintendo got the idea from now! While the Wii server for online play is now defunct, the Wii U still offers servers that work if you want to get online and embark on a monster hunting session with friends.
Now, where did I put that axe? Muramasa: The Demon Blade takes the 40th spot in this list of the best Nintendo Wii games of all time!
Yep, the storyline is just as epic as the graphics! The hand-drawn levels are also reminiscent of the period too, and the enemies players encounter could well be found in Japanese story books. As with most RPG games, this title has random attacks and battles integral to the storyline.
Speak with characters in towns, cook up meals, and fight using deadly Samurai weapons. A truly remarkable game. Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is far more than just a rehash of the original classic Silent Hill game. I think about Mario Party and Zelda when I think of this thing. As I mentioned above, this game is a reimagining of the original title.
Harry Mason, the writer searching for his daughter, makes an appearance once more, but the plot, characters and setting are completely different. New characters make an appearance, with players working towards one of five endings. Shattered Memories is psychological horror at its finest. It even splits play between an over-the-shoulder Resident Evil 4-style exploration mechanic and psychiatric sessions that affect the main gameplay.
And yes; the music make me sh… mess my pants everytime. Give this one a try, if you dare! Come on; we all know Just Dance is a cracking game. Yep, you read that right. Just Dance is a bonafide Wii game. Ubisoft know their markets, and they know that Wii users still go crazy for their games. A pink gorilla, a purple hippo, and a character to follow in the middle. This is the world of Just Dance in a nutshell. Mimic dance moves and move your feet to the beat in this energetic party title.
It features songs from all the way through to and boasts tonnes of classics that everyone knows. Work out while acting the fool with mates or compete to be the best in the single player mode. The gameplay is fairly similar to the first No More Heroes game with subtle differences. Travis is back, as is the cut-throat world of Santa Destroy. Players no longer need to pay to enter fights, and coins are won through mini-game battles.
The plot is about as crazy as they come, with insane boss battles and the weirdest situations to encounter. Wield dual swords and take down bad guys with ease as you prove who the hardest mofo in town.
My defining memory of this game is having some random dude at uni appearing in our flat and playing LEGO Star Wars for around 4 hours. No one knew him and no one could get him to leave. Chose your friends wisely, dear reader, as they may be at your house for some time. The Complete Saga follows the events of the first six films; the not so good ones, and the original classics.
Control lego versions of all your favourite characters including Luke, Darth Maul, Chewbacca, and more. This title is a must have for Star War fans and packed full of classic scenes from the movie, recreated in that glorious Lego style that kids and adults love. Well, all the usual faces are back in another world brimming with anthropomorphic animals. Plant seeds, collect items, and follow the real-time game clock to perform tasks during the day and at night. One of my favourite features in Animal Crossing games is the fact that different scenarios occur during different seasons too.
It also twinned with the Wii Speak to allow whole rooms of people to chat with each other through the Wii at the same time. Buy items from Nook, see your house looking magical on Christmas Day, and enjoy the secrets and spoils of this enchanted game universe. The links in this section take readers through to the Nintendo Switch version; all the same fun with updated graphics. Back to the Wii. World of Goo is like one of those addictive games you download on your iPhone and play religiously until level 2, I say like those games as World of Goo is times more addictive and cleverly put together.
Use blobs of goo to build structures over holes, chasms, and reaching up to great heights. Players receive more points when using fewer blobs, so thinking methodically is the key to success in this game. Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn takes the 34th spot in this list of the best Nintendo Wii games of all time!
Western gamers may well have been later getting into the Fire Emblem spirit, but we certainly made up for it in later years. For anyone wondering what on earth Fire Emblem is, its a tactical role-playing game that, like World of Goo, requires the mind of a war general to complete. Players battle over gridded areas in true RPG fashion, with turn-based action cropping up left, right, and centre.
Players follow Micaiah, a member of the Dawn Brigade rebelling against the occupying forces of Tellius. I like the fact that the plot moves between different factions of this war-ravaged land; it keeps players on their toes and provides plenty for us to sink our teeth into.
Like the new Digimon game , some players die never to return. Guitar Hero: Aerosmith was… nay, is one of the best Nintendo Wii games in my collection. Everyone knows how Guitar Hero games work by now.
This game is the first in a series of Guitar Hero games focusing primarily on one legendary rock act. Mixed with real interviews with the band and a career mode where players retrace their footsteps through venues that launched their career, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is a title that every classic rock fan should own.
The Super Smash Bros. Prior to the release of Ultimate, however, there were a number of great releases in the series on various consoles. Super Smash Bros. Brawl is one of these games, and it offers the unique, engaging, and exciting gameplay that fans of the series have come to expect. Brawl is an inventive game for a number of reasons.
It's the first game in the Smash Bros. Brawl's strength as a game comes from its variety of modes and ways to play. In Subspace Emissary, choose between single-player or co-operative play as you make your way through an engaging story and a multitude of stages and bosses.
Brawl mode allows you to hop straight into battle against friends or computer players. All-Star mode and Classic mode are single-player modes All-Star offers co-op that provide additional challenges for those who've gotten through Subspace Emissary. Events mode, Stadium mode, and Boss Battles are all multiplayer or single-player modes that offer unique challenges e. Whether you're looking to play with friends and family or by yourself, Brawl is an enjoyable fighting game.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is a fantastic game that incorporates the elements that made previous games so great, and builds upon them while establishing its own unique tone and experience. Twilight Princess is a noticeably darker game than previous Zelda titles — both thematically and visually — and this contributes to an astounding amount of world-building, plot elements, even gameplay.
You play as Link, accompanied by an unfamiliar companion named Midna, and venture on a journey between two dimensions in an effort to save Hyrule. In the 'normal' dimension, you play as Link, but in the 'Twilight Realm' dimension, you play as a wolf. Like many Zelda titles, Twilight Princess finds its strength as a game in its most challenging and engaging elements: the gorgeous visuals and general aesthetic, the challenging puzzles and detailed temples, the inventive and rewarding combat system, and the phenomenal soundtrack.
All of these thoroughly developed and laboriously created gameplay elements comprise a breathtaking and unforgettable gaming experience.
As you roam through Hyrule and the Twilight Realm and become increasingly acquainted with the world and its characters, you'll start to feel invested in your quest to save Hyrule and become aware of just how much detail the world has to offer.
Between the numerous bosses, the open exploration of Hyrule, the extremely large number of temples, and the 40 to hour playtime, Twilight Princess is a unique and compelling experience that serves as one of the Zelda series' masterpieces. If you decide to give it a try, here's hoping that Twilight Princess becomes one of your favorite Zelda games or one of your favorite games in general.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is a unique title in the Zelda series that tells the tale of the origin of the well-known and frequently-wielded Master Sword Link's infamous blade from previous titles.
You play as Link, who lives in a town named Skyloft, a city that resides in the sky. When your friend Zelda is captured and taken to a land beneath the clouds, it becomes your mission to leave Skyloft and rescue her. Between gorgeous painting-like visuals and an orchestra-backed soundtrack, Skyward Sword is nothing short of an immersive and enjoyable experience. Similarly to previous Zelda titles, gameplay involves Link fighting enemies with his sword and shield.
By swinging and shaking your WiiMote and Nunchuk, you'll be able to swing your sword and parry with your shield. Unlike previous Zelda titles, however, you'll be able to ride animals aside from horses! Fly gallantly on your Loftwing bird as you descend to the realm below. With the expansive world and a wide variety of puzzles, temples, and quests to discover and explore, Skyward Sword will keep you engaged from start to finish!
As the title released between Twilight Princess and Breath of the Wild, arguably two of the best titles in the series and two of the best role-playing games ever made, Skyward Sword had quite the reputation to live up to.
Although in nearly every regard it does, one of the only issues in the game is the incorporation of motion controls. With the use of the new Wii Motion Plus, the game's developers pushed the Wii's motion capabilities to their limit by making the sword, and most tools, usable solely via motion controls.
As a result, you may encounter a few bugs and issues with gameplay when playing. Ultimately, these issues have a minor impact on the many other positives and enjoyable elements of the game.
Skyward Sword is a breathtaking experience that will leave you humming melodies before you fall alseep, and planning out temples as soon as you wake. Whether this is your first Zelda title or not, Skyward Sword is a fantastic game worth trying on the Wii. When the Wii was originally unveiled along with its motion-sensing controls, a number of enticed players wanted to see just how far the capabilities of the Wii's controls could be pushed.
Through seeing and playing a variety of types of games, fans would get a better perspective of what can and can't be done in Wii games. Red Steel is a game that incorporates hack and slash and first-person shooter elements, allowing players to use the Wii's updated motion-sensing controls Wii Motion Plus to their full potential.
While the first game was definitely a fantastic introduction to the series, Red Steel 2 perfected the elements that initially drew in fans, and introduced a variety of new gameplay and plot elements.
You play as a nameless character who, after losing his Katana and fleeing captors, sets off on a journey to seek out his revenge. Using the Wii's motion-sensing controls, you'll fight enemies with a sword and revolver as you sprint through various missions. Red Steel 2's unique cell-shaded visual art style makes gameplay feel fluid and engaging. The main issue with Red Steel is the game's length and lack of general replayability. Although it's a fantastic experience on the first playthrough, with a playtime of 10 hours, the game doesn't have much to offer in terms of additional modes or content.
Red Steel's a must-buy for anyone who's a fan of the hack-and-slash and first-person shooter genres. As a cult classic release on the Wii, this game is definitely worth giving a shot, and will make a great addition to your collection! Xenoblade Chronicles is an amazing game that's earned a cult following in the years following its release, partially due to its limited availability. The story occurs atop two titans Bionis and Mechonis who are perpetually at war and involves the two different races that live on these titans — the Homs, and the Mechon.
The main character, Shulk, is a member of the Homs living on Bionis , who is able to wield the fabled Monado , a sword foretold to be an exceptionally important tool in the war against the Mechon. Playing as Shulk, you set off on a journey with Reyn, your companion, meeting new companions and characters as you venture towards your vengeance for the Homs.
The combat system for Xenoblade is particularly unique; via a real-time action battle system, you'll move freely during combat as Shulk, shuffling through selectable abilities and attacks while your companions auto-attack. Outside of battle, the game is open world and allows for free exploration of many different vast locations. Through several quests, missions, and encounters, you'll grow to love the world and characters that Xenoblade has to offer.
Between the beautiful story, the unique and engaging gameplay, the gorgeous visuals and inspiring soundtrack, and the challenging missions and bosses, this game is a now-appreciated magnum opus. Here's hoping that if you haven't played Xenoblade Chronicles before, you'll give it a try on the Wii. But if not, the definitive edition is being released on the Switch on May 29th, !
My favorite thing to do with my friends in RRB is to compete in score mode to shoot the most panicked bunnies. In this game, up to four people can take on monstrous horrors and enjoy an intentionally cheesy plot full of highly creative swearing and absurd situations.
It features fairly technical battles, similar to Marvel vs. The special air strikes are huge, colorful and one of the most appealing aspects. If you have at least one friend who likes Tatsunoko series like Science Ninja Team Gatchaman or Yatterman, you will change his life.
Along with Contra and Gunstar Heroes, Metal Slug is one of the most exciting side-scrolling shooters of all time — and now you can play every game in the series on your Wii. The Metal Slug anthology includes MS and X, giving you an impressive number of levels to play out alone or with 2P. The game features four split-screen modes for players on ten different maps and a few additional modes for online play.
And if you want the full GoldenEye experience, you can always play with a classic controller instead of the Wiimote. The classic bombastic gameplay of this franchise will never get old. And anyone can take it and start using it immediately without any explanation.
The best thing about Bomberman Blast as a multiplayer game is that up to eight people can play on one console. Of course, getting four GameCube controllers and four Wii controllers can be tricky.
With its elegant, sky-high graphics, excellent Wii motion controls, and numerous monkey boards, Banana Blitz is a must-have for the library. Instead, you and your troop of four chimps can take part in 50 multiplayer mini-games, including monkey snowboarding races, monkey boat races, and classic monkey ball races. If you are looking for something fun for all ages and levels of gaming experience, this is the way to go.
Where our ancestors had their voices and maybe some sticks and stones to make their music, we have the Just Dance franchise. Turn on the Wii, choose a song and try to imitate the movements and poses on the screen to the rhythm of the music. Guitar Hero 5 is a full four-person band where your buddies can play lead guitar, bass, drums and vocals — as long as you have the instruments.
Because Guitar Hero is awesome. With 83 new songs and access to many more via the Rock Band Network, RB3 was an ambitious game that delivered on its promises. At some point, Mario became so popular, that a lot of brands started using this theme in their products. T-shirts, cups, different commercials, Unity mobile games, slots at Quebec online casino. So Nintendo was not the first one.
Mario Kart Wii stands out with responsive motion controls, and Nintendo has added capable online multiplayer to the racing game formula. The emphasis on fun rather than realism or respect for the actual game makes for a chaotic and exciting game.
With 17 interactive fields to play on and countless incredible Mega Strikes to experience, this title goes Still, this reboot deeply respects the originals and manages to bring much of the same charm to the Wii. So when I was looking for all those great multiplayer games for the Wii, this was the first one that came to mind.
Up to four players move around the board as one of three classes thief, warrior and mage and try to collect as much wealth as possible in a fixed number of moves. This is the first traditional Kirby platformer since Kirby 64 : Crystal Shards, but focuses on the multiplayer. Mario Party 8 has amazingly creative game boards. Combine that with the 14 characters in the game and you have a really solid entry in the series.
The game has pretty solid graphics, 24 playable characters and an impressive number of race tracks. Races can change completely in a matter of seconds! I was a little hesitant when I first saw the Wii Sports Disc that came with each system.
